PULSE INDUCTION METAL DETECTOR

Pulse induction detector uses pulse induction technology to detect metals. It has one coil as a transmitter and receiver. The number of coils can range from one to three. When used, it creates a brief but high current pulse in the ground from the coil. The signal in the coil is then analyzed a short time just after the current pulse is turned off. This cycle is then repeated continuously maybe hundreds to thousands of times per second.

When the current pulse is created in the coil, there is creation of a magnetic field which expands from the coil. This collapse of current in the metallic object causes it to its own magnetic field that is generated back to the coil. Even though fire is not nearly as dangerous as nitric acid or the other acid-induced chemicals, still be sure to take the necessary precautions and wear safety gloves and goggles, and if you don’t, don’t say I didn’t warn you. First, use a screwdriver and a butterknife to pop the circuit board out of an old electronic. Make sure it’s one you don’t use anymore, because I don’t think you’re going to be getting it to work again after this experiment. Next, lay the circuit boards onto a sheet of metal. So carefully turn the pieces over, letting them burn to a nice crispy-looking data chip. Once they turn black, turn off the fire. Then, wearing your super fancy 99¢ gold mining gloves, cool them off by shaking them back and forth in the air as the smoke evaporates. I know it smells, but you’re almost rich so have some patience! Before the plastic starts to harden again, break the plastic away from the gold and let the pieces fall onto the tray. It should look like several little golden flakes in contrast to the blackened particles, so using a toothbrush and a pair of tweezers, gently pick the gold away separating it form the ash. Make sure you get all of it, or all your hard work would have been for nothing! 

Grab a cup of water and fill it up about a quarter full with cool water, then dump the gold pieces inside to clean off all the melted plastic and darkened spots. Shake the cup around, and then place a small screen or a rag on top of the cup.
